Frequently Asked Questions
How is prop firm technology usually priced?
Most vendors use one of four models: flat monthly fee, per active account, hybrid (base fee plus per account), or annual contracts. Some enterprise stacks use custom quotes. Understanding your expected active account count is the key input - per-account pricing can look cheap at launch but scale quickly.
What counts as an active account for pricing?
Definitions vary by provider. Some bill on funded accounts only, others on any account with a login, and some on peak concurrent active traders. Always confirm the billing definition in your contract - it can materially change your monthly cost at scale.
Should I include setup fees in my tech budget?
Yes. Many providers charge a one-time setup, onboarding, or white-label branding fee on top of monthly pricing. Spread setup cost over your first 12 months when comparing vendors so you see true year-one infrastructure spend.
When does per-account pricing become more expensive than flat monthly?
It depends on your per-account rate. As a rule of thumb, once active accounts exceed flat-fee breakeven (flat fee divided by per-account rate), per-account models cost more each month. This calculator shows cost per account so you can spot that crossover quickly.
